Learn ropes and play in Helsinki

Peer Rope and Play Night spring season is from 7.2. to 16.5.2025! See schedule below.

Peer Rope is a casual space for peer-learning and play.

It’s a space where we learn from each other. You can attend alone or with someone regardless of experience level, even if you are a total beginner! Is there something you want to learn? Would you like to teach something to others? Or do you just want to play? Come hang out and meet other rope people!

Play night is an event focusing just for playing (formerly known as rope jam).

This space is all about play! We encourage everyone to express themselves through their own unique style of play. Play night is not a space for teaching or learning but a place where everyone can focus on their own experience. You’re welcome to join with a plan or without – alone, with a partner, or as part of a group. We do not recommend play nights for total beginners!

General Information

  • One organiser is available throughout the evening.

  • The first aid kit is located at the window, with safety scissors on top of it.

  • The loan ropes are not suitable for suspension.

  • Suspension Points: Use only if you know how. Ask for help if needed. Rings and bamboo are available in the space.

  • Photography: Only allowed during designated photo theme nights.

  • No genital play, but crotch rope is allowed.

  • Dress Code: Wear at least underpants. Clothes are required in the lobby.

Space Usage

  • One side of the space is more focused on peer learning, while the other side is for play.

  • Give everyone space when they are negotiating, playing, or doing aftercare.

  • Do not reserve spots if you are not actively tying.

  • Clean the mat after use with the cleaning spray and a wipe.

Lobby

  • Non-Rope Conversations: Keep these in the lobby, not in the tying space.

  • Reading materials: We have materials related to negotiation and nerves on the coffee table. If you are new or tying with a beginner, we recommend going through them.

Event ending

  • The light signal is at 22:30, indicating that the event ends in half an hour.

  • You can help us by participating in the cleaning and carrying the things in the storage.

  • Join our secret Facebook group to stay up to date! You can request an invite at our events.

Peer rope & Play night theme descriptions

Participating in themes is always voluntary. You are warmly welcome to do your own thing even on theme nights! Only on Quiet Night do we kindly ask participants to respect the special atmosphere of the evening.

Bottoming

Let’s talk about rope bottoming! This week, you are warmly welcome to share your experiences, ask questions, and learn more about bottoming.

Pain

Ropes offer a wide range of possibilities to explore pain and suffering. Welcome to join the discussion on safety, and to share and learn tips for playing with delicious, good pain.

Photo night

During the photography evening, it is possible to take photos. Please note that all photography must follow the rules established for the space. You may only photograph people who have explicitly given their consent. No one else or their belongings may appear in the photos. Make sure to agree in advance whether the photos can be published and where. We will always go trough the photography rules together during the opening circle.

Plushies

We encourage you to bring your own plush toys (or cushions). What can be done with plush toys and ropes? Come explore it together. You can also come and introduce your favorite plushies – we’d love to see them!

Self tying

What’s not to love about self tying? It’s a great way to learn how rope feels on your body or to practice your tying skills on your own. For many, it can also be a form of self-expression, self-care, sensuality or meditation, to name just a few. This week, we’ll bring our attention to the practice of self tying – let’s learn together. You are warmly welcome to share your experiences, teach others, or ask questions and learn more about self-tying.

Silent night

Sweet, sweet silence. Silent night is especially for those who enjoy a calm ambience where the decibels are low. We aim to keep talking to a minimum in the tying space, with discussions held in whispers when necessary. Play sounds are allowed, but louder play should be saved for the next play night.

In the lobby, the volume of discussions should be kept at a level that respects the atmosphere of the evening. Negotiations should take place outside the tying space, either in the lobby or in the meeting room.

Topping

Let’s talk about rope topping! What do you enjoy about topping? Have you encountered any challenges or lessons on your topping journey? Come join the conversation, share your experiences, and learn from other rope tops, switches, and anyone else interested in the topic.
